Explosive Atmosphere Standards
Potentially explosive atmospheres can occur whenever mixtures of gases, vapours, mists and dusts occur that could ignite under certain circumstances. They occur in a range of industries including chemical plants, gas and petroleum facilities, mines and mills. Wherever they occur, safety must be given a high priority.
British Standards supply a number of standards to help designers, manufacturers, and those who carry out installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in gas atmospheres. They can also help you comply with the Potentially Explosive Atmospheres (ATEX) Directive 94/9/EC.
