BS EN 1991-1-4:2005+A1:2010
What is it?
BS EN 1991-1-4:2005 + Amendment1:2010 is part of the Eurocode series and the European standard for wind actions on structures. It outlines how to measure the impact of natural winds on loaded areas of buildings under construction. It also applies to civil engineering works under construction. BS EN 1991-1-4:2005 + Amendment1:2010 recommendations cover the whole structure as well as individual parts and components such as cladding units or safety and noise barriers.
How does it work?
BS EN 1991-1-4:2005 + Amendment1:2010 gives guidance on how to predict the characteristics and impact of wind on land-based structures and their components. It does not provide information on the local thermal effects of wind, such as dramatic temperatures or tornadoes. The standard applies to buildings and civil engineering works up to 200 metres high and bridges less than 200 metres wide. And this Eurocode will enable you to meet European structural design standards as part of the wider BS EN 1991 series.
